A 30-foot minke whale accompanied a female paddler during her nine-hour paddle which raised money for charities. The whale swam alongside the Southern California surfer Jodie Nelson for two whole hours.
We recorded this video of a pod of about 50 dolphins in Makaiwa Bay, Hawaii from our kayak on December 17, 2009. We added some whale sounds to the 1 minute video.

A juvenile Humpback Whale about six meters long was successfully freed after it was found caught in shark netting. The baby Humpback was spotted by a local resident who alerted the Marine Animal Rescue Team to its location.
To date the Marine Animal Rescue Team has successfully freed 25 whales from shark nets.

A blue whale is the largest mammal and animal on the planet, and is an endangered species. The recent NOAA ban on harvesting of krill is very important for the blue whale who can eat 7 metric tons of krill every day.
Gray whales are very forgiving.They were hunted to near extinction in Baja and defended themselves by smashing boats. Local fishermen were afraid of them.
In the 70s, however, gray whale behavior in Baja began to turn around 180 degrees. Today, people report some of the friendlies, life-altering experiences with these kind animals.

Holoholokai Beach Park in Hawaii is a great place to go whale-watching in the winter, especially at sunset. The beach is not far from the parking area, and you can watch the whales right from there.

We wanted to share a short clip in wav format so that you can hear the deep, beautiful whale voices clearly at lower frequencies.
